ISLAMABAD – Intermittent rains and gusty winds with isolated hailstorms and heavy falls are expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and parts of Pakistan on Thursday night, Friday and Saturday.
The wet spell will likely provide much needed relief to the people from the prevailing heatwaves by decreasing temperatures.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), continental air prevails over most parts of Pakistan. A shallow westerly will likely approach upper parts of Pakistan on Thursday evening/night.
Under these conditions, rains and gusty winds with isolated heavy falls and hailstorms are expected in the twin cities, Potohar region, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan on Thursday, Friday and Saturday with occasional gaps. Hot and dry weather with gusty/dust raising winds are likely in other parts of the country.
Rains, strong winds, hailstorms and lightning may damage loose structures like electric poles, trees, vehicles and solar panels.
Islamabad’s maximum temperature will likely remain between 41°C and 43°C on Friday, between 40°C and 42°C on Saturday, and between 38°C and 40°C on Sunday.
Rawalpindi’s maximum temperature will likely remain between 41°C and 43°C on Friday, between 40°C and 42°C on Saturday, and between 38°C and 40°C on Sunday.
Meanwhile, hot and dry weather prevailed in most parts of Pakistan during the last 24 hours. Very hot weather prevailed in the plain areas.
Jacobabad remained the hottest place in Pakistan, where the maximum temperature was recorded at 50°C. The maximum temperature in Dadu, Noorpur Thal and Sibbi was recorded at 49°C, and in Bhakkar, Bahawalnagar, Sargodha, Joharabad, Gujranwala and Hafizabad at 48°C.
In Islamabad, the maximum temperature was recorded at 45°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 19 per cent.
In Rawalpindi, the maximum temperature was recorded at 44°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 28 per cent.
